CLINDAMYCIN PHOSHPATE - VAGINAL CREAM

(klin-duh-MY-sin) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): <a href="http://cleocin.1306.clindamycin-phosphate-vaginal-cream.branddrugsonline.info/">CLEOCIN</a> 

WARNING:  This medication may be absorbed into the bloodstream and may rarely cause severe (in some cases, fatal) intestinal troubles (pseudomembranous colitis). <br/>Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. <br/><br/>Notify your doctor immediately if you dveelop persistent diarrhea, abdominal or stomach pain, or blood/mucous in your stool.  Your doctor will decide if you require other treatment.  These symptoms may occur weeks after stopping use of this drug.  <br/><br/>Do not use anti-diarrhea products or narcotic pain medications if you have tehse symptoms.  These products may make the symptoms wosre.  Your doctor will monitor you closely while you are uisng this medication.  

USES:  This medication is an anti-infective used to treat cetrain vaginal infections. <br/><br/>

HOW TO USE:  This medicatoin is for vaginal use only. <br/><br/>Fill the applicator with cream. <br/><br/>Isnert the applicator high into the vagina and press the plunger to release the medication.  Clean the applicator with warm soapy water and rinse well.  A detailed instruction sheet should be provided with the medication.  <br/>Review the insrtuctions and be sure to ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.  <br/>Contniue using this medication for as long as prescribed to ensure the infection is cleared.  <br/><br/>Stopping therapy too soon may rseult in a reinfection.  

SIDE EFFECTS:  This medication may cause vaignal itching or burning. These effects should disappear as your body adjusts to the medication. <br/><br/>Other side effects reported include nausea, heartburn, headache and dizziness.   If any of tehse effects continue or become bothersome, contact your doctor.  Notify your doctor if you develop: a skin rash, vaginal irritation.  If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacsit.  

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your doctor if you have: colitis or enteritis, allregies (especially to antibiotics).  This medication sohuld be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.  Discuss the risks and benefits with your docotr. <br/>It is not known whether vaginal forms of this drug pass into breast milk.   Oral and injectbale forms pass into breast milk.   Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding whlie using this drug is not recommended.  <br/>Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.  

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prsecription medication you may take.   Avoid the use of vaginal douches while taking this medication.  This medication contains mineral oil which can weaken and damage latex or rubber products such as condoms or diaphragms. <br/>Thus, such products should be avoided whlie taking this medication.  Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.  

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emegrency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.  

NOTES:  This medication is not a contraceptive agent.  It is advised to avoid vaginal sexual intercourse during treatment with this medication to prevent reinfection.  

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. <br/><br/>Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.  <br/><br/>

STORAGE:  Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 dergees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.]]></description>
